The University of Crete Language Instructors are pleased to invite you to the International Language for Specific Purposes Conference in Heraklion, Crete, held on February 7th and 8th, 2009 at the University of Crete, in Heraklion.
This conference will provide an opportunity for language teachers to share experiences and contribute their expertise to their counterparts in Europe. It will allow us to establish a network between L.S.P. practitioners working in Universities, TEI, Polytechnics, Colleges or Vocational Schools. We will examine the range of objectives in L.S.P. teaching, exchange information about existing techniques and practices, and develop cooperation among L.S.P. practitioners, language teacher associations, decision makers and key-educational professionals.
Topics of interest include but they are not limited to: needs analysis, top-down and Bottom-up approaches, content-based learning, team-teaching (cooperating with content teachers), skills development, Input-based methodologies, Consciousness raising activities, Output-based methodologies, syllabus and materials design, fostering critical awareness, the use of technology, testing and evaluation. We encourage authors to submit papers pertaining to the scope of the conference, describing original work, reporting research results and/or indicating future directions. Accepted papers will be presented at the conference by one of the authors and published in the proceedings.
